Sunday School Classes Offered at LPC
Adult Classes
Presbyterian Heritage Class, Library
This large class uses contemporary books and scripture to study current trends in our culture as they affect our Presbyterian faith and life.

Lectionary Bible Study, Room 106
This class uses curriculum to discuss the Lectionary Bible passages of the day, moving through the liturgical seasons of the Christian year for in-depth Bible study.

Serendipity Class, Room 210
This small discussion group is studying the Gospel of Matthew, with special attention to the practical and relevant messages for living our faith today. Scripture guides discussions of family, relationships, work, and living faithfully in this society.

Current Events, Room 203

This class uses events from the day’s news to guide lively discussions on life and faith. The current topic of discussion is “What Every Church Member Should Know about Poverty.”

Senior High Ministry
Leaders and teachers: L. Bellofatto, the Gregorys, B. Bartels
Our High School Youth (grades 9-12) meet in Room 211 for Sunday School, 9:30am. The lessons are focused on contemporary issues, touching on world issues and the lives of the youth, incorporating Biblical guidance for living faithfully as a teen in this culture.
For Youth Group, the Senior Highs are involved in Mission work locally, as well as fellowship times, and having fun together. They often provide opportunities for the congregation to gather for Talent Shows and Coffee Houses. At least once a year they lead the worship service.
Traditionally every summer they go on retreat to Montreat, North Carolina for the Presbyterian Youth Conferences, and they are also considering expanding their mission work to other areas.Every other year, Confirmation Classes are offered for youth in 8th and 9th grade Sunday afternoons.

Middle Youth Ministry

the Mitchells, S Costenbader, Room 208
Our Middle Schoolers (grades 6-8) meet in Room 208 for Sunday School, 9:30am. The lessons are active and discussion-oriented, with an eye toward applying scriptures and Biblical stories to the challenges of being a faithful young teen in this culture.
A few times each semester, the youth take the van for an “outing” during the Sunday School hour, either visiting different worship services or for food, fellowship, and fun with breakfast at a local diner.

For Youth Group, the Middle School has occasional Sunday afternoon and evening activities, and often facilitates activities and fellowship opportunities for the whole church. For example, they host a Chili-Cookoff in the Spring and a Spaghetti Dinner in the Fall.  Every summer they go on retreat to Massanetta for the National Capital Presbytery’s Middle School retreat.
