The Session and Committees
Laurel Presbyterian Church is governed by
Session, composed of 15 elders who serve 3 years each. The session makes most of the governance decisions for the church (which Sunday School curriculum to use, how to be faithful stewards of the church’s financial gifts, etc.), as well as overseeing the work of the committees of LPC. The
committees care for the people, property, and resources of the church, and reach out in the name of Christ to tend to the needs of the larger community:
- Congregational Life
- Organizes ways for the congregation to actively nurture one another and grow as a fellowship of all God’s people; through welcoming visitors and social gatherings.
- Education
- Plans for the Christian nurture and education of all people who come to LPC for spiritual guidance, through Sunday School classes, and other educational opportunities.
- Finance and Stewardship
- Develops the budget and oversees the use of church monies.
- Mission and Outreach
- Guides both money and people resources in caring for the least of these in Christ. Click HERE to find out more.
- Pastoral Care
- Attends to the needs of those who are ill, homebound, hospitalized, or in crisis, by offering prayers, visits, cards, and meals.
- Personnel
- Guides the staff-parish relations.
- Property
- Oversees the maintenance of the church facilities.
- Worship:
- Organizes the logistics for inspiring and meaningful worship which communicates God’s love for everyone, including special worship services.
